Coaching junior footballers taught me that each child is unique, and they thrive in different environments. Learning how to get through to each of them as individuals was a challenge I embraced, and the sense of pride from seeing improvement in them was the most fulfilling experience in the world. My junior football captain now plays at my amateur football club, and when I bumped into him, he spoke about the joy and pride he felt from being named captain when he was a child. Learning how important that experience was to him opened my eyes to just how big of an effect we can have on young children’s lives. I want to spend my life creating these positive experiences for children and helping them develop into happy and confident individuals.
